family photography in san antonio texasHere are some of the most frequently asked questions about photography sessions…if your question isn’t here, please don’t hesitate to use the contact form and submit it. I will answer your question as soon as possible. You are also welcome to call me @ 210.912.3685.

I want to schedule a session…what do I do?

To make sure that you get the perfect session time, be sure to schedule your session 4-6 weeks in advance. You deserve a high quality experience each time you get in front of my camera so I take limited sessions each month to make sure you get that. You can schedule your session and pay your non-refundable deposit all in one quick step. Simply fill out the photography contract and hit the submit button. Voila, you are done!

Things come up and kids get sick…it happens to everyone. If something does comes up, you can reschedule within 30 days without losing the deposit.

Where will the session take place?

I am a natural light photographer which means that I don’t use studio lights and my “backdrops” are your yard, parks, fields, and other locations that I can suggest based on what you want in your session. (The only exception to this is newborn photo shoots.) You choose the location, but don’t panic if you aren’t sure where to go. I can make some suggestions to ensure you have a great backdrop for your portraits.

What time of day will the session take place?

For the best lighting, sessions are typically done during early morning hours or evenings beginning around 7pm in the spring/summer and 4p in the fall/winter.

What should we wear?

Wardrobe…be creative…be colorful…when in doubt, ask me! One color I HIGHLY recommend avoiding is white…as in, everyone is wearing a white shirt…there is nothing wrong with this look, but it makes it hard for me to be creative with your portraits if everyone is wearing the same thing. I also recommend not wearing shirts with thin stripes as they tend to get distorted in photographs. Plaid is great!! Don’t be afraid of wearing plaid. Check out my “what to wear” section for some ideas: click here. Remember we are capturing who you are or who your kiddos are. Does your little ballerina like to wear her pink tutu with striped, rainbow leggings underneath? That’s okay! Be yourselves!! If you want a family photo with everyone wearing the same color, that is okay…BUT don’t be afraid to get colorful. Hats, scarves, hair bows, and other accessories are fun too!

Feel free to bring wardrobe changes if you like! Remember to have fun!! You don’t have to say “cheese”, just be YOU. We are capturing a moment in your life. Relax. Enjoy it! A photo session with me is a real life experience…so we will capture the spontaneous smiles, silly faces, laughs, tickles, tosses in the air, and everything that happens in between.

On the day of the session???child photographer in san antonio texas

Be on time, please. We are at the mercy of the sun so to get the most images out of your session, we need to start on time.

The remaining balance will be collected at the start of the session. The payment will be applied in full to your final order. You can pay with cash or check. If you need to pay via credit card, a PayPal notice will be sent to you a couple of days in advance.

Relax and enjoy the session…this will show in the photos and it will help your kids be more relaxed and cooperative during our session.

Don’t schedule six other things or try to complete your to-do list on the day of your session. Being tired and worn down will not create a fun, relaxed, and productive photo session. Think of your session day as a day for some pampering! Enjoy a little down time…

Should I bring anything?

Your session is personal, so feel free to bring your child’s favorite items (if you want them in the picture). Bringing small, “smile” incentives such as fruit snacks, puffs, m&m’s, etc for a little one is a great idea as well as, drinks for break time. Keeping little ones happy is crucial during the session and in reality, little ones are in complete control and we will be at their mercy.

If your child has a favorite toy that always gets their attention and produces a happy face, it is a good idea for you to bring that with you. We will use it! With babies and toddlers, I recommend bringing extra diapers and a change of clothes…accidents happen.

The session is over, what now?

  • I will post a little sneak peek from your session on my blog and Facebook within one week of your session. You are welcome to tag yourself or use the image on Facebook as your profile picture. Your entire gallery will be ready within 2 weeks.
  • Once your images are ready, I will contact you with a password to your online private gallery.
  • Please note that I charge a $25 fee to repost your gallery beyond 48 hours.
  • If you order items besides your disc, you will be sent an invoice detailing your image and/or product choices and the amount due.
  • Once the order is placed, I will let you know when to expect CD, images and/or products.
  • Depending on the size of your order, your items will be mailed to you or you can come by and pick up products.

I am a Facebook/Pinterest/Google+ user. Do you offer web-sized files that can be posted on Facebook?

Sure do! You will receive a digital, watermarked image of each file in your gallery. These images are sized to work perfectly on Facebook, MySpace, email, your blog or family website, etc but are not print ready and should not be printed.

Can I place another order later on?

Yes! I will keep your images for one year from your session date. At any time during that year, you can contact me and order additional images or products. If you received a discount on your original order, that discount will not apply to a secondary order.
